Description
"Spring Splendor" is an artistically presented image of Azalea Blossoms. Azaleas are of the same family (Ericaceae) as Rhododendrons. They have prolific blooms that fill the plants in early spring. After blooming, the spent blossoms are generally pruned away and the remaining shrubs serve as a hedge or border.
Azaleas are a common flowering shrub that always assures a colorful display. In Mobile, Alabama, the plant is so cherished it is planted along the streets and walks and is referred to as the Azalea Trail. Each year the city sponsors an Annual Azalea Trail Run. Other festivities take place during bloom time along the Azalea Trail and 50 high school senior girls are chosen as Azalea Trail Maids to act as City Ambassadors while the Azalea flowers are in bloom.
