Howdy Doody was a freckle-faced boy marionette that made its first appearance in 1947. The voice of the now famous marionette was that of Buffalo Bob Smith. The puppet's popularity created a demand for products related to Howdy Doody. This patent is for a puppet styled after the famous marionette and was granted on December 3rd, 1950.
As a child I did not watch a lot of television, but I do recall watching Howdy Doody. Afterall, it was "Howdy Doody Time."
