Description
This old barn sits in a rural area in Tate County, Mississippi. It along with several other old, weathered outbuildings has served it’s owners for many decades. Although showing signs of age, these buildings considering their age have withstood the elements and look younger than their age. At any rate, their utility has not diminished in the slightest.
Our rural landscapes are quickly losing these artifacts from a kinder and more simple past. They remind us of a time when folks worked from daylight to dark to grow their crops and tend their cattle. Mecantile stores furnished some store bought goods, but for the most part these strong and vibrant people lived off the land. They didn't worry about pollution, chemicals and steroids in their food, hybrid grains and feed that make huge mutant cattle and poultry, fish that swim in cesspools or any of the other things we modern contemporary people concern ourselves with. They grew and raised their food, worked hard and were rewarded for their efforts. They were dependent on themselves and God and loved the country they toiled and sweated to build.
